J. Alan Campbell, Attorney

my work

My work capabilities are quite broad.  After 16 years practicing law in a mid-sized law firm, I have had the opportunity to gain considerable experience in many basic areas of the law including corporate, real estate, tax and estate planning and litigation.  This allows me to personally help  my clients in almost all areas of their legal needs.  I can truly serve as their counselor and not just as a contract attorney limited to one particular niche.

Some examples of my work day-to-day include:

Organization of Corporations and LLC’s

Assisting Businesses with Contracts, Purchase/Sell Transactions,  Customer/Supplier Payment Disputes

Advising Investors in Development Projects

Organizing and Advising Nonprofits on Corporate and Tax Exemption issues

Commercial Real Estate Transactions and Re-titling of Property

Will and Trusts for Young Families

Tax and Wealth Transfer Planning

Estate and Trust Administration

I am a Board Certified Specialist in Estate Planning and Probate.

If you are not sure if I can help you feel free to contact me and if I can’t do the work I will try to point you in the right direction.

my history

I am originally from the Lake Norman region of North Carolina, but I made my home in the Durham – Chapel Hill area in 1992.  I obtained my undergraduate degree at Wake Forest University in 1992 (graduating Magna Cum Laude and membership in Phi Beta Kappa) and my law degree at Duke University School of Law in 1995 (finishing with High Honors and membership in Order of the Coif).  Immediately after law school I started the adventure known as the practice of law.  Through my years of work in the Durham and Chapel Hill areas I have developed many good friendships and client relationships and I look forward to many more.

my life

When I am not busy helping my clients with their needs, you can usually find me with my wife Anne and our children Sara Beth and twins Ryan and Melissa.  We enjoy a home in the country far from lights with time growing vegetables and flowers, cooking in the kitchen, fishing, laughing and just having fun.  I have also been known to cook a pork shoulder, play golf and drink a little wine, just the finer things.
